Morane-Saulnier TRK

The Morane-Saulnier TRK was a triplane bomber built in 1915. It may have been intended to participate in the 1915 or 1916 concours for a heavy bomber.
Two 230-hp Canton-Unne A9 engines were mounted inside the fuselage and powered two large propellers by a complex transmission system. One propeller was located on either side of the fuselage between the middle and lower wings. The landing gear consisted of a pair of wheels under each wing and two wheels under the center fuselage; this arrangement was almost identical to that of the Type S and Type T. The pilot and co-pilot were seated side by side in the large nose cockpit and a gunner was located behind the wings. Armament consisted of two 0.303 machine guns. Given the STAe designation MoS.9, only one TRK was built. It was not entered in either the 1915 or 1916 concours, and it is not known if it was ever flown.

Morane-Saulnier Type X

This aircraft is reported to have been designed in 1916 as a heavy bomber. One interesting aspect of the design was that it was intended to use one 300-hp Panhard engine (which may have been buried inside the fuselage) to drive two propellers via a transmission system. It is not known if the Type X was ever flown, and it may have remained an unfinished project.
