After completing almost 20 aircraft, the Voisin firm began to build airplanes designed by other aviation pioneers, including Farman, Moore-Brabazon, Ambroise Goupy, and Wright. Drawing on their experience in building these, the Voisin brothers produced their first aircraft with a tractor layout. However, it was unsuccessful and its failure probably reinforced the brothers' conviction that the pusher configuration was superior to a tractor layout.
